My quarter-life crisis in a song

June 4, 2009

Dream - Priscilla Ahn

I was a little girl alone in my little world
Who dreamed of a little home for me
I played pretend between the trees
And fed my houseguests bark and leaves
And laughed in my pretty bed of green

I had a dream
That I could fly from the highest swing
I had a dream

Long walks in the dark
Through woods grown behind the park
I asked God who I’m supposed to be
The stars smiled down at me
God answered in silent reverie
I said a prayer and fell asleep

I had a dream
That I could fly from the highest tree
I had a dream

(8x)
Oooh, oooh, oooh, oooh

Now I’m old and feeling grey
I don’t know what’s left to say
About this life I’m willing to leave
I lived it full and I lived it well
As many tales I lived to tell

I’m ready now, I’m ready now, I’m ready now
To fly from the highest wing

I had a dream

SMS of the Day

November 26, 2008

The thing that counts most in the pursuit of happiness is choosing the right companion. Remember that a successful relationship depends on two things:

First, finding the right person, and second,
being the right person.

17 to 23

People naturally write when they are overwhelmed - - - and birthdays are, without question, one of those things that can easily overwhelm - - - they create the red kind of happiness, the feeling when the world notices you and ‘you’re the center of your universe’ isn’t just a line. You wake up to warm greetings and thoughtful gifts, and for a certain moment it feels like Christmas, only in a different month.
I didn’t have a happy birthday. I had a happy birth-week. :)
And I’m letting my multiply pictures do most of the telling this time (you need to be my contact to see!).

Thank you to everyone who celebrated my 25th! High School friends, College friends, Friends overseas who remembered (naks), FACA, Karen, Ate Aisha, dotPH, my 4dapat - Br, Clar, Ben, Prox, Vim & the 3baldboys - denni, oti & jp; Anne’s SGV friends; Ma & Pa, the whole family, and my twin sis who gave me the coolest gift ever. Salamat ha! :)

There wasn’t an MBP to celebrate what is now my quarter-life but surprisingly I didn’t mind. And if I still have to explain why then you must have not seen the smile in my eyes.

=)

CONGRATULATIONS on your brand new PSP!
and BIG THANKS to you and everyone who supported and helped organize this fund-raiser (FACA people most especially). We have successfully turned over a total of P49,000.00 to sir Dennis and his family. He’s utterly grateful to each and everyone, and extremely overwhelmed with the raffle turnout.

Super maraming salamat!
May God give a hundred-fold back to everyone’s generosity.

Marie Digby, youtube singer/songwriter

June 23, 2008

This girl is super talented! and so pretty too (she looks like Kristin Kreuk). I always have had high regards for singers who can actually write their own songs, play instruments and perform effortlessly.

It’s a huge give away, I’m a fan :)

Revisit

June 17, 2008

Last friday, after BBDO-Prox paintball/TGIF party, I got on a taxi to Jollibee Plaza. No bath and looking like garbage, I got off to a familiar Emerald Street, its usual chatter and breeze greeting me.

I went inside J Plaza, almost dashing…waited excitedly for 27 to turn orange and a few seconds later, i was where I often was just months ago. It looked the same, smelled the same, felt the same office home I still know. It was a nonevent night, no birthdays, no salary day libres, no atchie’s roll calls - - - it was an unplanned nothing, simply put - - - but I was there to be with old friends I truly miss.

fundraiser no. 1

June 12, 2008

I got out of work early today to attend our first meeting for sir Dens. I decided to walk from my building to FACA, even if it was drizzling, just so I can burn some stubborn fats (tsk).  After 20 minutes or so, I finally reached the end of the road, towards familiar old Saville, towards my 2005.

I remembered my first day as a web designer was a Monday, August 1 to be exact.  I remembered Sir Dens was particularly early that day because of color coding. I don’t remember anymore what our conversation was but I think it was about me to not be nervous. You see, in general I think I kind of wear a nervous face by default. =P So day one happened, week one happened, month one happened… fast forward to awhile ago when I re-entered a building dear to me, hoping meeting one will too, go well as planned.

It didn’t disappoint. We have a few brilliant plans! James, Karen and I, joined by many others, mostly new instructors, gathered at the lounge to brainstorm what could be effective activities to help sir Dens and his wife.

After minutes of briefing and exchanging ideas, we decided that our first fundraiser will be to sell raffle tickets. The grand prize will be a brand new PSP worth 10,000 PHP (which btw we already have a sponsor for). We just have to finalize the raffle mechanics such as when will be the draw date etc, design the ticket which will be taken cared by our indesign-ers, and have them printed. Then we’ll be off to sell! which I honestly miss doing (thanks to years in JMA) :P Can’t wait!

At P100 per raffle ticket, a chance to win a cooool gadget and a worthwhile cause to benefit - - - i feel and believe that fundraiser number one will be a hit.  Yep, my hope tank is full. =)

for a friend who was once my mentor in so many ways

June 6, 2008

I have five unfinished posts under this blog account, five drafts of half told stories about happiness, sadness, ordinary things, about leaving my old job, about my new job, all about me, me and more me.

Because I don’t write about more relavant things, this blog isn’t very famous.  Now I could only hope that the few readers that pass by would forward this post and support this cause.

http://rescuemywife.blogspot.com/

Teacher Dennis was my Advanced HTML instructor when I was a student in FACA year 2005. I can say that I owe him my web design career. He made me believe I can be a designer even when my final project was a crappy funeral website. He gave me design tips while I was taking my first design exam as a Web designer applicant also in FACA. He convinced me that I can teach - he just pushed me and pushed me until I found myself in the classroom teaching the craft I love. Simply put, he has a lot to do with where I am now, for which I’ll be ever more grateful.

Karen and I thought that we could put our abilities to much better use by coming up with fund raising activities for teacher Dens. Calling out all our friends - - all who know sir Dens, or even if you don’t know him but are interested to help him, please PM me at leah.juaymah@gmailcom. Your help doesn’t have to be in cash - - - your support can come in terms of sharing your time, talents and resources, or even by just promoting his blog.

My prayers are with you and Ms Neddie, sir Dens. Keep still.
