marmalade skies

sugar rush

September 2, 2007

I love to eat and my favorites usually fall under the dessert category. It doesn't matter if I am eating at a fancy restaurant or a convenient jollyjeep, i'd always check what the available desserts are. Whenever i read a menu, i tend to overthink the dessert list (hmmm…) even if I know I won't be having any because of time/budget constraints, i would always bother to look at those yummy, mouth watering pictures inscripted with words like indulge, sinfully sweet and whipped whatnot.

Several Saturdays ago, my friends from faca and I checked out the serendra mall at the fort. It was really fun, we got to raid 4 storeys of Fully Booked (grabe book haven), dine at a hawaiian polynesian grill called Polukai (dito ko lang nagustuhan ang spare ribs at hindi pa ganun kamahal) and strolled the vicinity like first timers would (pangdate ang ambiance pero kahit walang dictionary date ok pa rin naman *wink* ). However, i have to say, and i think my friends would agree that the highlight of the night was when we feast over a box of cupcakes.

I don't think i can ever describe how these heavenly goods taste in words, so I might as well let pictures do the telling ;)

So, I take it that you can be considered a desserts/confectioneries connoisseur?

Those pics are worth a thousand synonyms to temptation. Now I’m hungry. Hurr…

Btw, can you recommend other places that serve delicious desserts? I’m thinking of places that serve scrumptious ice-creams and halo-halo.

joods: oo noh.. nakakagutom nga everytime nkkita ko yung pics..;)
kris: i heard okay sa bizu, although a bit pricey. krispy kreme, natry mo na? sa conti’s masarap yung cakes, max brenner is also a good place to go if you’re big on chocolates like i am :) , halo halo ok na sa kin yung sa chowking eh hehehe, pero sa razon’s may kakaiba silang halo-halo. Ice cream - dairy queen, pancake house, friday’s (oreo madness fave ko), Jack’s loft - try mo yung i declair and deep fried ice cream :D wow ang dami kong nasabi hehehe, ngugutom n tuloy ako :P

I haven’t tried Krispy Kreme, though I’ve gone to Gonuts Donuts a few times. Too sweet and I always end up having a kind of weird sugar rush whenever I down a few Gonuts stuff. Say it isn’t so with KK.

I like Iceberg’s Halo-halo better than Chowking’s, though I’m not sure why because they’re pretty much the same (well, excluding iceberg’s off-tangent selections). I like Razon’s Pampanga style halo-halo too, though it’s a bit on the “too-little-for-too-much” side. BUT, the same can be said of all sweeties (even, well, the human kind. Gee, what the hell am I saying?)

I’ll try Jack’s loft. Thanks for the recommendations. :)
